The works of internationally distinguished Cuban artist Kadir López Nieves was first introduced to Palm Beach at the "Summer Stroll" art event at The Whitney. since then, the excitement for his personal arrival has been building, leading up to the coming weeks in which he will visit the area ofr the first time. |
La nostalgia de La Habana
“El individuo vive recordando lo que ya no está y el presente lo vive en función de lo que ha vivido”, así piensa el artista cubano Kadir López Nieves, quien por estos días visita ArtBo, de mano de la galería Génesis, y quien deja ver en su obra mixta, casi incalificable, colgada sobre una enorme pared blanca, su nostalgia, sus suspiros de ciudad agotada en el recuerdo, de divas que ya no viven y teatros cubanos que supieron de gloria en otras décadas. |

Kadir's pieces are made on top of original publicity signs of the 1950's as supports for the photographic images of the Havana of those days to show through. The works are not intended as a wink at longing or nostalgia or the values associated with the recent past. |
